In Conversation With Daniel Black

The Australian ophthalmologist Dr. Daniel Black explains how the Zeiss Cataract Suite markerless has changed the way he performs cataract surgeries. He is delighted how this technology has superseded the need for corneal marking and manual transcription of data. Especially the manual transcription represents a risks of introducing errors and in succession also refractive surprises. Particularly pleasing is the increase from 94 percent to more than 99 percent of his patients achieving a postoperative refractive cylinder within ±0.50 D of target.

ZBP Approaches to Fixation and Centration Part 1

In this series of videos Dr. Daniel Chang, MD of the Empire Eye and Laser Center, Bakersfield, shares his best practice approach to the fixation and centration of multifocal IOLs. He reviews the definition, application, and usage of ocular reference axes and angles and proposes consistent reference terminology. Dr. Chang explains the fundamentals of telecentric and non-telecentric keratometry and demystifies existing misconceptions about keratometry measurements. Watch the first part of this enlightening series of best practice approaches.

ZBP Approaches to Fixation and Centration Part 2

Watch the full story of Dr. Daniel Chang's approach to fixation and centration of multifocal IOL. In this second part of this series Dr. Chang describes pre-, intra- and post-operative steps to reliably achieve excellent lens centration.

Demystifying Keratometry Measurements

Here comes part 3 of ZBP approaches from Daniel Chang, MD of the Empire Eye and Laser Center, Bakersfield. In this section he discusses technologies for better k-reading and also explains limitations of the keratometric model description of the cornea in the presence of irregularities.

Technology for Better Keratometry

In Part 4 of this ZBP series Daniel Chang, MD, who works at the Empire Eye and Laser Center, Bakersfield, talks about differences in keratometry technology. He explains the advantages of telecentric keratometry of the IOLMaster 500 over conventional keratometry technologies.

The Value of Speed and Simplicity

In the fifth and final video of his series, Daniel Chang, MD at the Empire Eye Center in Bakersfield, discusses some of the key features of the IOLMaster 500 – speed and simplicity. With the aid of an example, he explains how the IOLMaster's ease of use increases efficiency, resulting in improvements for both doctor and patient.
